Skiing & Snowboarding

There are ample ski resorts within one and one and a half hour's drive from the mill. The snow fall is excellent in the winter months in the mountains and the resorts open from december to the end of april. Channel 4 (UK TV channel) recently had a TV series featuring Cauterets which is just over 2 hour's drive away. The local resorts are uncrowded, unspoilt, traditional and well equipped.

Issarbe - Enjoy new sensations in the untouched landscapes of Issarbe. Straddling the Bearn and Basque country, Issarbe offers an ideal starting point opposite the Pic d'Anie for cross-country skiing through unique landscapes.

Le Somport - Candanchu - Relax in the calm and serenity of Le Somport-Candanchu. A must for cross-country skiers. Follow the pre-skied trails through the heart of the national park at your own pace, discovering the huge forests and contemplating those far-off peaks. Le Somport-Candanchu is an area you'll need to take time to explore and enjoy. 2 hour's drive from the mill.

La Pierre Saint Martin - La Pierre Saint Martin in the western Pyrenees will charm you with its unforgettable panoramic views, its chalets scattered among a forest of hooked pine trees and its flats facing the slopes. La Pierre Saint Martin has an exceptional setting, a vast skiable area adapted to young and experienced. 2 hour's drive from the mill.

Gourette - Stay at the foot of the Gourette runs that rise as if by magic to reach the summits. Skiing area: 27 pistes, which are 30.5 kms with markers on a 290 hectares site. 16 ski lifts. 3 beginners. 6 spaces chairlifts. 1000 metres of slope. 1 1/2 hour's drive from the mill.

Artouste - Artouste is a small resort with panoramic fields of snow at an altitude of 2.100m, facing the Pic du Midi d'Ossau. 150 hectares open to winter sports and horizons that breathe. A well kept freestyle space equipped with a sound system, entertaiment, half pipe, cross-country, snow run and snow-board. 1 1/2 hour's drive from the mill.

Iraty - In the heart of the largest deciduous forest in western Europe, the Iraty resort combines beauty and serenity. In this majestic setting, cross-country skiers can admire the breath-taking scenery of Iraty. 1 1/2 hour's drive from the mill.
