(single bed with pull-out bed below). There is also a cot and

are provided and are changed weekly. There is a wood cabin/chalet
available for surplus which can sleep up to 4 extra guests and
is self-contained (kitchen/shower/wc).

de Luz/Saint Sebastien, then towards Bayonne/Bordeaux to get on
to the A64 motorway and direction: Pau/Toulouse. From Pau airport,
take the A64 towards Bayonne/St. Sebastien - Take exit

Then take all signs to La Bastide Clairence (sometimes indicated
as ‘La Bastide Cl.’). A 10 minute drive will bring
you to the village. Drive straight up and park on the main square.
Ghislaine Potentier is our keyholder and she runs a cafe on the
village square. You will see her name in large letters on the
left hand side of the square above her cafe/mosaic workshop. If
you call in to the cafe to collect the key, Armand, Ghislaine's
husband and our gardener, will then drive ahead of you to the
mill, so that you have no problems finding it. It is a short drive
out of the village to the hamlet of Pessarou. (Armand and Ghislaine's

What
to do
Surfing is one of the main reasons to go to the Basque region,
it has arguably the best surf in Europe and in summer the water
is warm enough to surf without a wetsuit. The sandy beaches are
perfect for families. In winter, the Pyrenees are easily accessible
with the nearest ski resort only 1 hour away. But because the
house is on the river, canoeing, walking, fly fishing and cycling
are the easiest way to enjoy the amazing scenery around the house.
Take a look at our extensive activities
pages.
The
Basque region is also arguably the best region for gastronomy
in France with one of the differences to certain other regions
in France being that you get service with a smile!
